  • The Way Forward
Returned to the familiar foreign land of her birth,
To reconnect with Barcelona life, culture & earth,
One had left, but three returned, for a one year stay,
Or at least for as long as they felt they weren’t getting in the way.

The smallest one but four months old,
With father and mother readjusting from the cold,
Of the Scandinavian climate left behind them for a while,
To the heart of the Gracia District, to iaia waiting with a smile.

As the family wandered through the busy streets,
Preparing for the feast, with all those wondrous meats
Out wandered a face from more than twenty years ago,
Who they insisted must join them at their dinner also.

Familiar faces old and new gathered round the table,
Telling tales and sharing memories of what was now considered fable,
Welcome open arms to Neo, youngest member of the family,
Who steals everyone’s affection, but does it all so calmly.

This body of work was completed in November 2009 as part of the Magnum Barcelona Workshop with Chris Steele Perkins
