2024 | Single Channel Video Performance

Trinity is the culmination of more than ten years of self-portraiture and performance-based practice. Across this period, three recurring figures emerged within Muller’s work, informed by Jungian ideas of ego, conscious self and unconscious.

Appearing across performances, photographs and durational works, the figures became a recurring symbolic structure through which questions of identity, perception and inner experience were explored.

Following a period of reorientation beginning in 2022, bringing the three recurring figures together became significant both within the practice and within Muller’s evolving understanding of self. Trinity does not present this convergence as resolution, but as integration: previously separate symbolic aspects brought into relation before the practice moves into a new phase.

Muller arrived at the residency with all three costumes and a clear intention to bring the figures together, while leaving the form of that convergence open to the live process.

Trinity was selected for Mythologies of the Personal and the Land, the 2025 Westmeath Artists’ Award group exhibition at Luan Gallery, where it received a joint Second Award. The work was also screened as part of the inaugural Crow Gallery launch at Westival Festival in Westport in 2025, a community arts initiative supporting artists living with disability. In 2026, Trinity will also be presented as part of Culture Night Late at SIRIUS Arts Centre, Cobh.
