Framing Your Practice brings together practical photography, documentation and visual-storytelling workshops for adult artists and creative practitioners. These structured learning programmes develop skills, confidence and greater independence in photographing and presenting participants’ own work.
Drawing on more than two decades of professional experience, the workshops combine clear instruction, hands-on experimentation and individual guidance. Programmes can be commissioned by arts organisations, universities, residencies and festivals, and adapted to a particular audience or context.

Photography for Artists programme delivered in Leitrim, Roscommon and Clare.
Featured Programme
Photography for Artists: Documenting Your Practice
A two-day professional-development programme for visual artists, craftspeople and creative practitioners who want to photograph and present their work with greater clarity, accuracy and confidence.
Working with their own artwork and equipment, participants develop practical skills in photographic documentation and image preparation. The emphasis is on creating images that communicate the character of their work and are suitable for portfolios, funding applications, exhibitions, publications and digital platforms.
Small-group teaching allows individual questions and practical challenges to be addressed throughout the programme.
Participants develop:
- Greater confidence using their cameras and available light
- More accurate and consistent documentation of their work
- Skills for selecting and preparing images for professional use
- Greater independence in presenting their practice
Format: Two full days, preferably with a short practice interval between sessions. Maximum ten participants.

Programme Experience
In 2026, Aishling Muller delivered Photography for Artists: Documenting Your Practice across four municipal areas in County Clare, through a collaboration involving Clare County Council’s Arts Office, Creative Ireland and LEO Clare.
Participant feedback reported increased confidence in photographic technique and documenting artwork. Artists particularly valued the hands-on approach and being able to apply their learning immediately.
The programme has also been delivered through Creative Frame in Leitrim in 2025 and Roscommon Arts Centre in 2026.
Additional Workshops
Camera Confidence
An accessible introduction to camera controls, available light and intentional image-making. For artists, students and beginners who want to understand their equipment and make photographic decisions with greater confidence.
Format: Half-day, full-day or introductory series.
Visual Storytelling
A practice-led workshop exploring how image selection, sequence and perspective shape meaning. For artists and photographers developing a photographic project, visual essay or coherent body of work.
Format: Full-day workshop or developmental series.
Field Notes: Photographing Place
An introduction to observation, repeated encounter and place-responsive image-making. The workshop helps participants develop their own approaches to photographing landscape and ecological change.
Format: Field session, full-day workshop or multi-session programme.
Self-Portraiture in Natural Light
A practical exploration of self-representation through light, gesture, environment and framing. Participants experiment with photographic approaches that support individual expression, with attention to privacy and control over the image.
Format: Half-day or full-day workshop.
Bespoke Programmes
Workshops can be developed around documentation, visual storytelling, field-based research or long-term project development.
Aishling brings more than twenty years of workshop and teaching experience with children, young people and adults from diverse cultural and national backgrounds. Her work spans educational institutions, arts organisations, community programmes, professional-development settings and private events. This experience informs a flexible approach, adapting content and delivery to each group’s interests, experience and learning needs.

Practical Information and Access
Workshops provide a supportive, respectful learning environment. Access requirements, advance information, breaks and adjustments to participation can be discussed during planning. An access rider is available where helpful.
Fees, group size, equipment and venue requirements are agreed according to the programme. Scope, responsibilities, payment and rescheduling arrangements are confirmed in writing before delivery.
